Gallery 863: Picture in Time Special - Midland Metro 22nd April 2004

We head back into the archives in this collection as we go back to April 2004 for a selection of photos taken during a day out on the system then known as Midland Metro (the very similiarly named West Midlands Metro today, of course). In April 2004 the operating fleet was made up entirely of the original Ansaldo built T69 trams and at this point in time there had been no withdrawals from the fleet (although 07 was being used for spare parts at the depot). All trams were in the original fleet livery of Purple, Red, Yellow, Green and Grey (they probably couldn't fit any more colours in!) and we see 10 of the fleet in service on this day plus a couple tucked up inside the depot. So, settle down as we take a look at the Metro 16 years ago. Photographer: Gareth Prior
