Gallery 638: Blackpool Tramway Anniversary Spectacular - September 2016

The weekend of 24th/25th September saw the Anniversary Spectacular take place in Blackpool with an intensive tram service in operation with not only a timetabled heritage service but also specials beign sent from Pleasure Beach throughout both days. The majority of the operational heritage trams were in action at some point over the weekend including Modified Balloon 718 following its recent return to service with visiting Marton 31 also in use on both days. The weekend was marred by a fire on Twin Car 272+T2 on the Saturday and the derailment of Boat 600 at Pleasure Beach on the Sunday but despite this it was an enjoyable weekend. Away from the Prom tram displays were put on at Rigby Road Depot including recent arrival Balloon 708. This collection of photos actually starts two days earlier on Thursday 22nd September and includes a look at the return of The Hovertram to Blackpool and then continues on Friday 23rd September with a special afternoon heritage service in operation. As well as the heritage trams in action across the weekend we also take a brief look at the Flexity2 trams in service.

Photographs in this collection were taken by Nigel Pennick & Gareth Prior in September 2016.
