Gallery 616: Midland Metro Opens to Grand Central - 30th May 2016

After delays the full initial Birmingham City Centre extension of Midland Metro opened to the public on Bank Holiday 30th May. This collection starts off at the new terminus of Grand Central (New Street Station) with views of the very first public tram - 37 - as it breaks a celebratory banner and then we concentrate on the new section of track from there to Bull Street viewing the trams in service on the first day. We also then fast forward a couple of days to 2nd June with some views around the new Snow Hill stop which had not been completed in time to open on the official first day.

Photographs in this collection were taken by Mike Haddon, Philip Powell & Andy Walters on 30th May & 2nd June 2016.
