Gallery 560: Picture in Time Special - Blackpool 125 Five Years On

In September 2010, a week of special events took place in Blackpool to celebrate the famous seaside tramway's 125th anniversary. Despite some disappointments in the run-up to the main events, it was a great occasion and the traditional tramway's last hurrah, although of course the upgrade did not kill off the old fleet to the extent that was feared! Four visiting preserved tramcars starred in the anniversary events week: Fleetwood 'Rack' 2 from Crich, Marton Box 31 from Beamish, Liverpool 762 from Birkenhead and Manchester 765 from Heaton Park. All of these trams feature in this special gallery celebrating the events five years later, along with other vintage cars and members of the normal fleet which ran that week, some of which are no longer to be found in Blackpool.

All Photographs in this collection were taken by Andrew Waddington.
