The latest period of intensive heritage tram operation in Blackpool took place over the weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June. On the first day it was a Green timetable which initially saw Box 40, Balloon 701, Open Top Balloon 706 and Bolton 66 in action but with a wet and murky morning Balloon 717 replaced 706 and it was this tram which was to run the late afternoon service through to Fleetwood. All five of these trams feature including some images of 40 after it suffered a fault and had to be towed back to depot. We then move on to Sunday 21st June when the Gold timetable was in operation with six trams seeing use: Standard 147, Twin Car 272+T2, Brush 631, Centenary 648, Balloon 715 and Balloon 717. As this day should have been Totally Transport - which was cancelled this year - heritage services ran through to Starr Gate for the first time this year and eight full length journeys were offered. As well as photos of the ten heritage trams used over this weekend we also feature the Flexity2 trams in action on the timetabled service and then as a bonus on Monday 22nd June we catch Western Train 733+734 on a private hire for school children.
Photographs in this collection were taken by Gareth Prior, Paul Thacker & Andrew Waddington between Saturday 20th and Monday 22nd June 2015.
