Gallery 538: Classic London at Crich Tramway Village - 13th & 14th June 2015

Over the weekend of Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th June the Crich Tramway Village became a mini suburb of London with the Classic London event taking place. The highlight of the weekend was to be the return to service of London County Council 106 following overhaul whilst the other London passenger trams in the fleet - London United Tramways 159, Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331 and London Transport 1622 were also due to play a starring role across the weekend. Unfortunately the weather didn't realise that two of the trams involved were open toppers and the Saturday turned out to be a very wet day which meant 159 was not used for blatantly obvious reasons! Instead the Saturday saw bonus trams Leeds 399, Sheffield 510 and Blackpool 630 in service alongside the London cars. In addition to the trams a number of visiting London vehicles were on display and in operation including London trolleybus 1348 and several buses. In this collection we mainly feature images from the Saturday with all the operational trams - plus a few more besides! - shown but we also have few photos from the second day of the event when the weather was a bit less wet!

Photographs in this collection were taken by Bob Hodges, Alasdair McFarlane & Gareth Prior.
