Gallery 523: Midland Metro - April 2015

Tram no 09 comes down the hump towards the Handsworth Booth Street stop with a service from Birmingham to Wolverhampton. The hump is there because the railway line between Snow Hill and The Hawthorns runs to southerly side of the tram line and there is a metal transfer plant to the northerly side which is still served by the railway. Access had to be given without obstructing the trams or freight trains – so the tram line rises to cross the connection by a bridge.
