Around the World in Trams: Rockhill Trolley Museum - 2024 Fall Spectacular

At 1005 and car number two came down the line and our photographer is now in his usual location by Car Barn 2. That second car was Philadelphia Transportation Company 2743. This is a post war design Presidential Conference Commission ("PCC") car and was was built in 1947. Ownership of the car passed to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ("SEPTA") as of 30th September 1968. In May 1984 it was rebuilt and would then remain in service until the autumn of 1993. It entered preservation when sold to the Rockhill Trolley Museum in May 1994. It had to be remounted on new trucks because of a difference in gauge between the museum and the City of Philadelphia and once this was done it was able to operate for the first time in 1998. It is now running in the Philadelphia Transportation Company livery after operating in the SEPTA livery for some time.
