![]() Blackpool 144 was the most difficult of the "UK Four" to actually photograph but here we see it in the Car Barn. 144 is a Blackpool Standard Car and is preserved with open balcony and closed lower deck. It was an early mover to Seashore with it departing Blackpool way back on 11th March 1955 - meaning it has actually been in America more than double the length of time it was operational in Blackpool! (Entering service on the Fylde Coast June 1925 and withdrawn October 1954). The tram did run at Seashore in earlier years but more recently the overhead wire at the museum has sagged and so its not possible to operate double deck trams at the present time, although its hoped that may be rectified in the future. In the meantime the tram remains stored but did receive attention to its wiring between 2000 and 2015. |
