Around the World in Trams - The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum 2024 Trolley Fair


24 is a double ended interurban car whose design was based on the President’s Conference Committee ("PCC") designs; it was built by the Saint Louis Car Company (order number 1755) between April and September 1949. There were fourteen of these cars numbered 11 to 24, all were built for the Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Company, also known as the "Red Arrow Lines". 24 rides on two Saint Louis MCB trucks each of which mount two Westinghouse 1433B traction motors, the controller is a Westinghouse XD229. This car was built to the Pennsylvania Trolley gauge. Ownership of this car passed to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority ("SEPTA") as of 29th January 1970, this car retaining the number 24. This car was retired from service in September 1982 and acquired by the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum shortly thereafter. 24 is currently in the condition that it was acquired in.
