Riverside Museum, Glasgow - June 2025

To understand the sheer size of the Glasgow Corporation Tramways system you just have to consider how many Standard Cars were built. In total over 1,000 of these workhorses were built and they saw lots of rebuilding over the year. 779 is one of the Standard Cars which was built in 1900 and it is restored to its 1908 condition which included over balconies and a top cover. It was restored in time for that 1962 procession and features the red route colour livery.
