![]() The final two photos of this collection move away from Merseyside - and indeed a tram which has never operated in the region during preservation - as we take a look at Liverpool 869 which has been a long-term resident at the Crich Tramway Village as part of the national collection. Built in 1936, 869 was sold on to Glasgow in 1954 (receiving the fleet number 1055) and would enjoy a further six years of service before withdrawal came in 1960. Restoration commenced under the newly formed Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society but it then moved to Crich where further work would be needed, this not starting until 1990 which finally saw this tram run for the first time in preservation in 1993. By 16th September 2017 869 had become a firm fixture in service at Crich which is when we see it in this image passing Victoria Park. |
