Edinburgh Trams - February 2025

Between 14th and 16th February there were no trams between Balfour Street and West End to allow for trackwork at York Place. This led to temporary arrangements at both ends of the blockade and here we're at Balfour Street where trams terminated, pulled forward and then revsersed via the crossover. 269 is the tram which we see about to run on to the crossover in the foreground to return to Newhaven. The pointsman stands aside on the central reservation beside his van. Pilrig St Paul's Church on the right is at the Pilrig Street junction which was the Leith/Edinburgh boundary (until November 1920) where the early twentieth century horse, then electric trams met the Edinburgh cable tram system.
