20 Photos of... Beamish Power from the Past 2010

Back in 2010 (and for several years to follow) Beamish ran two major transport events each year. In April 2010 it was the turn of "Power from the Past" (with the Steam Fair coming later in the year) and this was the second such event in this format and in this year it had the theme "Corporations and Contractors". On the tramway this led to two loan trams visiting the museum - Cardiff 131 from the Crich Tramway Village and Leeds 6 from the Heaton Park Tramway. Whilst the Cardiff water car would be a short-term loan for 6 it would stay at Beamish for three years with departure not coming until April 2013.

In addition to the loan trams, Blackpool 31 was repainted green and renumbered 4 to remember its time as a works car and was used in service in that condition.

Also running during the event were Gateshead 10 and Sunderland 16 from the home fleet whilst Sheffield 264 was displayed in the town on day one of the event as part of fundraising for its (now completed) overhaul.

This was the start of a period of exciting tram events at Beamish and in this collection we see all of these trams around the museum circuit.
