20 Photos of... Manchester Metrolink T68s

Two T68s would carry non-standard livery in their operating careers - one of which was 1003 which received the new fleet livery along with several different adverts. On 25th March 2013 it had its final advert for the Imperial War Museum North and their Saving Lives exhibition (October 2012-November 2013 for this ad). Its the rear unit of a double with 1023 as they head off to Bury via Woodlands Road at Old Trafford. The via Woodlands Road part of the destination is key as by this time the stop was only served during the day by services. 1003 was initially delivered to Manchester on 5th November 1991, entered service on 6th April 1992 and withdrawn 12th November 2013. It left Metrolink on 11th April 2015 when it was driven under its own power to the boundary with the East Lancashire Railway from where it was later transported to the Greater Manchester Fire Service training facility.
