20 Photos of... Heaton Park Tramway Blackpool Day November 2010

Sunday 21st November 2010 saw what was probably Manchester Heaton Park Tramway's most ambitious event as "Blackpool Day" saw two loan trams in action on the tramway alongside a couple of trams which were now calling the park their home. The two loanees were Marton Box 31 (which was on its way back to Beamish from Blackpool where it had been visiting for the 125th anniversary of the tramway and would stay in Manchester for the winter) and Open Top Balloon 706 (which was on a strictly weekend only loan in its only ever appearance away from Blackpool) whilst resident trams were Replica Vanguard 619 and Railgrinder 752.

The three passenger trams ran in service regularly - at this time, of course, the tramway only existed between Middleton Road Gates and "Old" Lakeside with the extension to "New" Lakeside and the second depot yet to have been built.

In this look back at the event we see all four of those trams in action at various points on the tramway and we end with a view the following morning as 706 heads back to Blackpool.
