When you look back at the number of votes we received in the early years of the contest you could ask yourself how its gone on to last for 20 years! 2004 saw only 28 votes cast and was the only tie in the history of the contest. One of the two winners was Blackpool Frigate 736 which had returned to service after its overhaul and rebuild at Rigby Road. It became not only the first illuminated tram but was also the first (but certainly not last!) tram from Blackpool to take the accolade. By the time this photo was taken at North Pier on 31st August 2008 the tram had firmly established itself back into service.
