This is part two of our review of the Year of the Railways Transport Festival which took place on the Isle of Man to help celebrate both the 130th anniversary of the Manx Electric Railway and 150th anniversary of the Steam Railway. (Part One can be viewed here.)
We start off this time on the fifth day of the festival which saw the first use of Freight Trailer 26 for 30 years following an overhaul at Laxey. It was partnered with Tunnel Car 6 for a Freight Tour (its use had not been promoted until a few days before it happened) covering the whole MER line. The same day saw the NATS vehicles and Wickham 22 at Laxey Station. Other highlights during this period was a tour with Ratchet 14 and Trailer 51, an intensive service on the MER and a MER and Snaefell Cavalcade through Laxey Station. With the festival ending on Sunday 30th July we stick around for a bit longer and conclude things with some more general shots of the MER. * A full review of the events can be read in the second part of David Mee's Diary. |
