Beamish Tramway - Fares Please! May 2023

Back to the tram depot and we take a look at Sheffield 264. Sadly the tram suffered a motor fault a few weeks before the event and so wasn't available for service as it awaits repairs. 264 was built in 1907 and renumbered 342 in the late 1930s before being withdrawn in 1956. It was an early arrival at Beamish and first carried passengers in 1973 but as an open topper because of the poor condition of its upper deck. Restoration back to this condition came in 1987. Just behind 264 in this view is Gateshead 10 - you'll have to take our word for that as its got protective sheeting around it to aid the work being completed on that tram with this aimed to be completed by spring 2024.
