20 Years in 20 Photos - Manchester Metrolink |
The second location for our 20th Anniversary celebratory Photo Gallery series "20 Photos in 20 Years" is Manchester Metrolink.
The modern tram system which has probably seen the most change over the past 20 years, Manchester Metrolink now features 99 stops over 64 route miles with lines stretching out to Bury, Altrincham, Eccles, Rochdale, Ashton-under-Lyne, East Didsbury, Manchester Airport and The Trafford Centre - many of which have opened within the past 20 years. In addition the complete fleet of trams has changed with the original T68s and the later T68As withdrawn and replaced by the Bombardier M5000s with the livery of the system changing at the same time. In this collection we start off with a few shots of the T68/T68As before the M5000s take over. As well as trams in fleet liveries we also see a few of the advert liveries which have become a feature of Metrolink in more recent years. |
Photographers: Steve Hyde & Gareth Prior Photographs were taken at various points during 2005 and 2022. |
