The weekend of Saturday and Sunday 26th September saw the return of hop-on/hop-off Heritage Tram Tours in Blackpool for the first time since March 2020 with a special event celebrating the 136th anniversary of the tramway. With six trams in service on each day running to a timetable across the whole tramway we see the various heritage trams which were in operation during the weekend which included rare daylight outings for illuminated pair the Western Train and the Frigate. The weekend was also due to see the return to service of Balloon 700 after a repaint into Wartime Green and Cream but although it was out on the Prom on the first day very briefly a fault prevented it from running on the Sunday as planned.
This collection starts off on Friday 24th September with images of Balloon 701 running Coastal and Promenade Tours before we feature evening tours including The Ghost Tram, Fish & Chips Tram and Illumination Tours. Its then onto the main event with images of all the trams which ran in service as well as those on display at Rigby Road Depot. The set ends on the evening of Sunday 26th September with some more illumination tours.
