For several years in the early 2000s every June saw Totally Transport take place on New South Promenade, Blackpool. The premise was simple a special tram service would run through to Starr Gate - we'd now call it a heritage tram service but back then everything was in reality a heritage service! - while various visiting classic buses and other vehicles would line the streets. There were also various trade stalls located at the Solaris Centre. In 2010 with the tramway upgrade in full swing it wasn't possible for trams to run to Starr Gate but the event still took place with the special tram service - as well as the standard tram service - having to terminate at Pleasure Beach. On 28th June 2010 the Totally Transport specials were operated by Standard 147, Boat 602, Brush 632, Trawler 737 and Bolton 66. It had been planned that Coronation 660 would be part of the service but door issues prevented this with the Trawler subsituting. On top of these trams there were several other specials out with highlights including Boat 604, Twin Car 672+682 and Open Top Balloon 706. The tram service was only operating between Pleasure Beach and Cleveleys at this time with the upgrade works taking place at either end of the tramway with five double deckers operating this on the day. 2010 was, of course, the 125th anniversary of the tramway and one of the visiting trams had already arrived in the town - Manchestr 765 - but this had yet to be commissioned for service and so remained unused at the depot. In this collection we take a look at some of the trams which ran on this day along the tramway showing the adverts and liveries of the time.
