Our latest look at the traditional tram photo archive takes us back to 2006 and a trip to the Crich Tramway Village. These photos were taken at the annual Tramathon - an event which saw anything which run in passenger service doing so - with the 2006 edition taking place, according to my notes, in unsual Crich weather of very warm and sunny! In 2006 Tramathon saw a split service running with half the operational trams running before lunch and the rest after. Looking at it with a 2020 eye highlights of the operational trams were probably Leeds 602, Gateshead 5, Johannesburg 60, Halle 902 and Glasgow 1297. In total 24 passenger trams seem to run in service with those five joined by Blackpool & Fleetwood 2, Chesterfield 7, Glasgow 22, Blackpool 40, Southampton 45, Paisley 68, Sheffield 74, London County Council 106, Blackpool 166, Blackpool 167, Leeds 180, Oporto 273, Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331, Leeds 345, Leeds 399, Sheffield 510, Glasgow 812, Liverpool 869, Halle 902 and Berlin 3006. The workshop was the home of London United Tramways 159 which was undergoing its major restoration while GMJ and Rupert made a trip onto the mainline with the Blackpool Electric Locomotive giving a towing demonstration with Southampton 45 in the afternoon too.
