Gallery 894: Picture in Time Special - Heaton Park Tramway 30th November 2008

This collection is again looking back into the archive and this time we head back to the last day of November 2008 when the Heaton Park Tramway had a "Celebration of the British Works Car". At this time Blackpool Railgrinder 752 had only just arrived at the tramway while Hull 96 had recently been overhauled and returned to its Leeds 6 identity complete with a repaint into a Works Grey livery. These two trams were joined in operating by Heaton Park stalwart Manchester 765 with the tram collection completed by the on-display Manchester Eades Reversible Horse Car L53. It may have been a chilly and frosty day but this was an enjoyable event and these pictures show some of the highlights of the day. What is apparent in these photos is how much progress there has been in the 12 years since - with 6 becoming 96 again, Blackpool 623 arriving and entering service and the line being extended from the then Lakeside terminus plus the construction of a new depot - not bad going for just a 12 year period!
