Gallery 888: Around the World in Trams Special - Lisbon Trams 2015

Line 28 crosses the upper terminal of the Bica Elevador funciular line, which is also operated by Carris. This funicular can be traced back to 1892 when it operated with a water balance system and continued running until 1913 when it closed for rebuilding. It was to be 10 years before it would run again and the two vehicles which run the service are known as Bica 1 and Bica 2. This view shows one of them - sadly covered in graffiti - at the top of the line.
