Gallery 880: Around the World in Trams Special - DC Transit 1304 launched at Seashore Trolley Museum 4th July 2020

Saturday 4th July 2020 saw the return to service at the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport of DC Transit 1304 after restoration. A PCC car with seating for 49 passengers it was built by the Saint Louis Car Company in 1941 for Capital Transport before it was passed to DC Transit in 1956. 1304 was acquired by General Electric on 2nd May 1961 for use as a test car called "Tomorrow". After its days as a test car were over it entered preservation in Ohio at Trolleyville and eventually arrived at Seashore in 1985. The restoration has seen the car returned to its DC Transit appearance. On launch day 1304 was mainly used on crew training trips but did also make three trips with visitors on board. With social distancing measures in place and regular cleaning taking place on launch day this collection shows images of the newly restored 1304. Photographer: Edward M. Koehler Jr.
