In this photo collection we head back 15 years to the Crich Tramway Village Tramathon of 12th June 2005 - a day which saw 29 different vehicles out on the mainline at some point during the day. Back then there were usuually two enthusiast events at Crich, the first of which was Tramathon where as many trams as possible ran - and 2005 certainly did that! It wasn't just passenger trams out on the mainline but works cars and some trams on demonstration/test runs. Highlights included Leeds 345 being tested as its restoration came towards a conclusion, Blackpool Conduit 4 running under battery power for a few demonstration runs and Halle 902 also out on test. Of the passenger trams in service Blackpool & Fleetwood 2, Gateshead 5, Southampton 45, Paisley 68, Leeds 602 and Glasgow 812 of those no longer operational were used with the more familiar sights of Chesterfield 7, Glasgow 22 , Blackpool 40, Sheffield 74, London County Council 106, Blackpool 166, Blackpool 167, Leeds 180, Oporto 273, MET 331, Leeds 399, Liverpool 869, London Transport 1622 and Berlin 3006. Sheffield 510 was stabled in the Wakebridge siding with works cars GMJ, Rupert, Sheffield Works 330, Leeds Tower Wagon 2 and the Blackpool Electric Locomotive also noted out during the day. Most of the above feature in this collection which also shows some line-ups on the depot fan and Gateshead 5 being towed back to depot after failing during the day. All in all it was a busy day, the highlights of which are included.
