Gallery 868: Aberystwyth Cliff Railway


One of the two trains to operate the service is seen in this view as "Lord Geraint" stands at the lower station. Built for the opening of the line in 1896 as a semi-closed car it has subsequently been rebuilt into a roofed toastrack as seen here. Both cars are of a unique design, being stepped in line with the gradient, rather being mounted on a triangular frame.
