Gallery 860: Around the World in Trams - Midwest Electric Railway, Iowa

Inside the Car Barn we see Waterloo Cedar Falls and Northern Railway 381. At the time of this photo it was in the middle of a major maintenance project and was resting on a pair of trucks from a scrapped Toronto PCC car with its own trucks and motors being worked on off site. The car was built in 1930 as Knoxville Power and Light Company 379 and was then one of three similar cars purchased by the Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Northern Railway in 1948 when it received its current number. After being withdrawn in 1958, the City of Waterloo acquired it for preservation in 1960 and it then made its way to the Midwest Electric Railway in 1972.
