Gallery 851: West Midlands Metro Westside construction - 30th January 2020

While the first phase of the Birmingham Westside extension on the West Midlands Metro opened in December 2019, work has been ongoing to further extend the line to Hagley Road with this scheduled to open during 2021. This selection of photos shows the current scene with Ken Jones taking a walk from the Library stop (the current terminus) to Five Ways Island and then over the island to the start of Hagley Road on 30th January 2020. Currently groundwork and resurfacing is taking place on Broad Street with more intensity at the Five Ways end of the road. Track has already been laid at Five Ways underpass with hoardings protecting the worksites along Broad Street. Photographer: Ken Jones
