Gallery 714: Trams Around the World - The Electric City Trolley Museum, Scranton

Beyond the former freight house stands the Scranton Furnaces platform. When the Electric City Trolley Museum began operations in 2001 the car would operate to the former Lackawanna and Wyoming Valley shop building where it would reverse for the return trip. On the return trip the car would go up the siding to this platform where passengers could alight from the car to view the remains of the Scranton Iron Furnaces; this is generally conceded to be the site where the American steel industry began. Since the trolley line has been extended; this platform and siding have fallen out of regular use.
