Gallery 686: Edinburgh Trams - July 2017 |
253 to Airport approaching Balgreen. This stop is more or less on the site of the old and now demolished Balgreen Road Halt that was on the short branch line to Corstorphine, Edinburgh's final heavy rail suburban service, that was withdrawn in 1967. The two mile long former double track line curves away to the north and is now a public footpath and there are substantial remains of the intermediate station at Pinkhill but the terminus at Corstorphine, a very pleasant suburb, has vanished beneath housing. |
