Gallery 682: Blackpool Tramway - 15th July 2017 |
On Saturday 15th July an intensive heritage tram service ran through to Fleetwood throughout the day and this gallery features images from that day. For most of the day a 20 minute heritage service ran from Pleasure Beach to Fleetwood Ferry - the best frequency to the Ferry since the upgraded tramway opened. Eight trams were in service with seven of these making multiple trips to the northern outpost. The highlight of the day was the use of Brush 623 - on a short term loan from the Heaton Park Tramway. Having been launched into service the previous evening this was its first use on the main heritage service and proved to be popular throughout the day. Other trams to run to Fleetwood were Box 40, Centenary 648, Balloons 715, 718 and 723 and Frigate 736 with Railcoach 680 also in service but confined to Blackpool. As well as these eight trams we also view a few of the Flexities in service. With such a good service on the northern section much of these photos are taken in Fleetwood and Cleveleys before we head back to Blackpool to round the day off. |
