Around the World in Trams - Seattle Streetcar

In this collection we head across the Atlatic Ocean and end up in the United States of America for a selection of photos taken on the Seattle Streetcar system over several years from 2019 until 2024.

Seattle Streetcar is a modern ligt rail system which first opened in 2007 when the South Lake Union line started operation. Then nine years later it was joined by a second line with the first services on the First Hill line commenced. The two lines have no connection but both use streetcars built by Inekon Trams - three Inekon Trio-12 vehicles built in the Czech Republic for the South Lake Union line and then seven Inekon Trio-121 at the time of the opening of the First Hill line, one of which was to boost capacity on the South Lake Union line. Three of this second batch were also built in the Czech Republic with the others assembled under contract by Pacifica Marine in Seattle.

Photographer: Ian Buck
Photographs were taken between Friday 9th August 2019 and Thursday 8th August 2024.
