| Manx Heritage Transport Festival - July & August 2026 |
|
The annual Manx Heritage Transport Festival took place between 28th July and 2nd August 2026. Once again it was a busy six days of events across the island's transport system with 2026 marking two significant anniversaries: 150 years of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway and 50 years of the nationalised bus operation. Both of these anniversaries warranted special cavalcades along Douglas Promenade and we see images of both whilst there are also other photos of the horse tramway in action between Derby Castle and Villa Marina.
The Manx Electric Railway is not to be ignored and we feature lots of shots of that line as well. From the traditional parallel runs north from Derby Castle to tours of the system and an intensive timetabled service all are seen within this collection. We also take a look at the Snaefell Mountain Railway, both in Laxey and up at the Summit. Steven Hughes Transport Videos was on the Isle of Man and as well as the photos included in this gallery captured video of the events: |
