| Tyne and Wear Metro - Hello and Goodbye |
|
The Tyne and Wear Metro has been in a period of change as they say hello to a new fleet of walk-through trains built by Stadler and at the same time say a fond farewell to the original Metrocars which have given service to the network for over 40 years. Friday 26th June 2026 was advertised as the final guaranteed run of the old units (although several have been used since) and in this collection we feature some images of the final Metrocar sets in service as the crowds took one last ride.
This set of photos also takes a look at some of their replacements in service as the new order started its takeover, a takeover which should now be complete althoyugh there do still remain some availability issues at times. |
Photographers: Roy Calderwood, Howard Forster & Trevor Hall Photographs were taken between Thursday 6th March 2025 & Friday 26th June 2026. |
