| West Midlands Metro - 25th March 2026 |
|
This collection of photos comes from the West Midlands Metro with all images captured on camera on Wednesday 25th March 2026. During this visit driver training was underway on the first phase of the Birmingham Eastside extension as far as Millennium Point, and that is where this set starts. Trams running from the reopened Wolverhampton St George's were terminating at Bull Street to then head onto the extension via the delta junction at Bull Street/Corporation Street. After heading up to Millennium Point they then returned to the delta and started to pick passengers up again at Corporation Street for their journey to Edgbaston Village. On the return from Edgbaston Village they ran direct without heading back onto the extension.
As well as photos on the extension we also visit various other stops on the open network to see those trams in service. It was mainly the newer Urbos100s which were operating on this day (in fact there were no trams in the 20s running at all!) and we see many of these in action. This includes the four trams in advertising wraps: 47 for Xero, 50 for L'Oreal, 52 for City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and 58 for Peaky Blinders. This was a bitterly cold day (despite it being Spring!) and as well as periods of sun there were also short sharp hailstorms to contend with! |
