Very Light Rail has arrived in Coventry. It may only be a short demonstration line (around 220 metres) and limited passenger runs will be taking place in May and June 2025, but it is the first stage of the Very Light Rail project to see how it operates in a normal urban setting (although fully segregated from other traffic). Its a fairly controversial project with some questioning whether it really does give any benefits despite claims of its money saving attributes but these tests will be the first stage on the road to see whether it can be succesful. On 28th May 2025 - which should have been the first day of passenger use but these were cancelled as it wasn't quite ready - we see the Very Light Rail vehicle on tests along the line.
