Crich Tramway Village - Tram Weekend September 2024 |
Over the weekend of 14th and 15th September enthusiast eyes were on the Crich Tramway Village as Electric Tram Weekend took place. This year saw the celebration of 60 years of electric tram operation at the home of the National Tramway Museum whilst also looking to the future with several trams having recently returned to service after restoration and overhaul.
This collection actually gets underway the day before Electric Tram Weekend with the official launch of London County Council 1 into service after its ten year and £500,000 restoration. We have photos from this private launch event which also saw London County Council 106 run for the first time since 2021 alongside London Passenger Transport Board 1622. Its then onto the main events with photos of the trams in service - including London County Council 1 again as well as Newcastle 102 which returned to service earlier in the summer having not run since 2000. As well as the trams solo we see them in groups along the length of the tramway. There are also various photo line-ups which saw some withdrawn trams on display such as Johannesburg 60, Sheffield 189, Leicester 76 and Blackpool & Fleetwood 2. * If you prefer to see video of the event head to YouTube where Steven Hughes has uploaded several videos: |
