Blackpool Tramway - Tram Sunday July 2024

First taking place in 1985 as part of the Centenary celebrations of the Blackpool Tramway, Fleetwood Tram Sunday is now a very different event with it having evolved to a family festival with less emphasis on the trams. The event was cancelled because of a poor weather forecast in 2023 and this year it was in doubt earlier in the year until a new committee was formed to organise the day.

Unlike recent years, this year saw no trams on static display on Pharos Street with the only heritage tram not running in service being Balloon 718 which was at Fisherman's Walk in use as a shop to sell items from Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours. It also joined by heritage trams in service with five different cars being used on a special timetabled service - this included Boat 600 which ran mini tours to Rossall and back from Fisherman's Walk.

In this collection we feature some of the heritage trams in service on this day and also some of the Flexity2 trams running the core service. This was, for the first time, seeing all timetabled services run via North Station, although this wasn't obviously clear to a lot of intending passengers.
