Blackpool 634 launch at East Anglia Transport Museum - 29th March 2024 |
Good Friday 29th March 2024 saw Blackpool Brush 634 launched into service for its first runs in preservation and for the first time in almost 20 yeasr (it was withdrawn in October 2004). Now owned by the Fylde Transport Trust the tram - in an approximation of a former advert livery now carrying signwriting for "Terror Tram" - is on a 5 year loan to the East Anglia Transport Museum who completed work on the tram at the end of 2023 following its arrival from Blackpool in November.
To mark the return to service of the tram, the East Anglia Transport Museum held a Blackpool Tram Event over the Easter weekend which not only featured 634 but also saw fellow Blackpool trams Marton VAMBAC 11 and Standard 159 in service alongside Sheffield 513 which spent many years in Blackpool. In addition Balloon 726 and Brush 290 were on display. In this collection we see all those trams and with the East Anglia Transport Museum also being home to trolleybuses, buses and the East Suffolk Light Railway we see some of those sights as well at the only museum in the UK you can enjoy rides on trams, trolleybuses, railway and buses all in one day! |
