Manchester Metrolink - 13th February 2024

In January 2024 a broken rail was discovered just outside Victoria on the Manchester Metrolink system. This has meant that since 16th January 2024 there have been revised services operating across the city centre. 2CC (the route via Exchange Square) has been closed as a through route since 22nd January with a section of straight rail temporarily put in place whilst they await a replacement part.

There was a further revision of services from 12th February which has seen the usual East Didsbury-Shaw & Crompton service diverted back onto 2CC and running only from East Didsbury to Exchange Square with no subsitute service going onto Shaw & Crompton. This change was introduced after here had been congestion issues on 1CC with all cross-city services having been sent that way.

This latest service change is featured in this collection of photos - we take a look at trams heading over the affected section of track as well as the temporary arrangements at Exchange Square.
