Tyne & Wear Metro - May 2023

It may be the oldest of the "modern" light rail/metro systems that we cover on British Trams Online but it is also probably the one in the UK that we cover the least photography wise. But with a visit to the northeast to go to Beamish the opportunity was taken to capture the outgoing Metrocars in service.

Unfortunately, all good plans and that meant that the limited time available for this was met with very heavy rain and so a lot of the images captured are from undercover to avoid getting soaked before a long time train journey home!

The bulk of the photos come from Monday 8th May and we start off on the Airport line with photos at Callerton Parkway, Airport and Kingston Park. We then have a brief stop at Ilford Road on the common section of line towards the centre of Newcastle.
