West Midlands Metro - Return to Library February 2022

After a gap of 202 days without any trams running in passenger service through Birmingham City Centre between Bull Street and Library, Saturday 12th February finally saw the return of a service to the relief of many. The service had originally been suspended in July 2021 to allow for the installation of a new junction to the forthcoming Birmingham Eastside extension along with rail replacement on Corporation Street and had been expected to resume at the end of October. However, the discovery in November of cracks on the trams and a complete suspension of the service put paid to this and when trams did start running again in December 2021 there weren't enough in order to run any further than Bull Street. But after further testing, and with less than 12 hours notice, trams did finally return to Library from Saturday 12th February 2022, albeit at a reduced frequency for now.

This collection starts off the day before, Friday 11th February 2022, with some views of trams on test before we feature images taken on the first day of service at various locations along the route from Bull Street to Library and then conclude with more shots later in the first week of operation.
