Manx Summer Transport Festival - 27th July-1st August 2022 |
The regular Summer Transport Festival on the Isle of Man once again took place in 2022 with a packed series of events planned over five days in late July and early August. In this gallery we feature many of the events which took place on the Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and the reopening of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway.
We start off on Wednesday 27th July with a parallel run using 2+54 and 1 before a special tour using car 33 and trailers 49+51 spent the afternoon traversing the entire network. Thursday 28th then saw Laxey Car Shed tours before Friday 29th had another parallel run (14 and 1+60) before 14 went to Dhoon Quarry. Friday 29th then saw the relaunch of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway with 36 starting services with horse power coming courtesy of Torrin. There were also tours of Strathallan Depot and the MER's Derby Castle Sheds were also open for some tours too. Saturday 30th featured tours of Snaefell Car Shed and then the evening saw four cars travel to the Summit - in the fog! The events concluded on Sunday 31st with an intensive service on the MER. A full diary of what happened over the five days is available here. |
