Following a difficult few months, there is some good news from the Birkenhead tramway which will re-open on Saturday 16th August. This follows a period of enforced closure following an electrical fault affecting the tramway’s\u00a0circuit breaker\u00a0located at the main Taylor Street depot.<\/p>\n

Although the problem has not actually been repaired fully yet, permission has now been granted to resume a tram service and this will be achieved by towing the trams required for service in and out of the depot each day. This shows the tenacity of Merseyside Tramway Preservation Society and their determination that the show must go on!<\/p>\n
The tramway will now be running every weekend between 1300 and 1630, with a half hourly service scheduled to operate.
