Following on from last week\u2019s protests regarding the proposed raised tram lane in Audenshaw, Transport for Greater Manchester have now released revised plans for the area which will no longer see this dedicated tram lane raised above the height of the normal road surface.<\/p>\n

The revised plans will now see a tram lane at the same height of the rest of Droylsden Road with no restrictions on right turns from North Drive and Moss Street or to and from Kingsley Grove. In addition loading restrictions will only apply at peak times with the exception of those at road junctions. A waiting and loading bay will be created for shops at Kershaw Lane, there will be a residents parking scheme on Droylsden Road and parking for shops at Assheton Avenue. The revised plans follow discussions with the local community.<\/p>\n
Martin Lax, Metrolink\u2019s Strategic Development Manager, said: \u201cWe\u2019ve taken into consideration all of the issues that have been raised by residents, as well as those raised during detailed discussions with Tameside Council. The revisions, made as a direct result of the consultation process, will be considered at the Speaker\u2019s Panel on 21 December. We believe they strike the right balance between the requirements of the new Metrolink line and the needs of residents along the route. I\u2019d like to thank everyone who took the time to
