This tram was built in 1968 an would run for the first couple of years of its life in Eastbourne on the 2 foot gauge line in Sussex. By the time it was built it had already been decided that everything would be moved along the coast to Seaton and so although built to the smaller gauge it was bigger than previous examples with a view to running in Devon.

Another double deck open topper, 8 was originally built with enclosed saloons at either end of the lower deck but today has fully crossbench style seating on the lower deck, a change which occurred in 1992.

Regauged to 2’9” in 1970, 8 would be the first tram to carry passengers on the Seaton Tramway when it inaugurated services in August 1970 between Riverside and Bobsworth Bridge. It has also gone through many different liveries over the years, including being the first pink tram before it was decided a larger capacity car was needed for this role. 8 is currently in a Bristol blue and white livery.

8 at Seaton Wetlands on its way back to Seaton.
