{"id":64850,"date":"2026-10-09T18:00:51","date_gmt":"2026-10-09T17:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64850"},"modified":"2026-10-04T10:37:04","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T09:37:04","slug":"picture-in-time-blackpool-fleetwood-40","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64850","title":{"rendered":"Picture in Time: Blackpool &#038; Fleetwood 40"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this edition of \u201cPicture in Time\u201d we once again take a look at the Heaton Park Tramway in 1980, but this time we go inside the shelter\/depot\/workshop to see work underway on restoring another tram.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Blackpool &amp; Fleetwood 40<\/strong> had arrived at the Heaton Park Tramway in April 1979 having spent the previous seven years stored at Clay Cross. After it had left Blackpool in 1963 it has been used for a couple of years at Crich ahead of its storage but by the time it moved to Manchester it was in need of restoration.<\/p>\n<p>The converted tram shelter was the only covered accommodation available to volunteers of the MTMS and it had to be a flexible space with it needing to be used for storage of operating trams, a shop\/museum as well as where they could restore further trams.
