{"id":64693,"date":"2026-10-07T18:00:26","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T17:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64693"},"modified":"2026-10-06T19:46:37","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T18:46:37","slug":"mass-transit-taskforce-starts-roundtable-discussions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.britishtramsonline.co.uk\/news\/?p=64693","title":{"rendered":"Mass Transit Taskforce starts roundtable discussions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this year the previous government set-up a Mass Transit Taskforce with the aim to look at the barriers which prevent the fast and effective delivery of mass transit schemes (including trams and light rail). There may have been a change of leadership at number 10 but the Taskforce is continuing and following the recent call for evidence a number of roundtable discussions are now taking place.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The first roundtable took place in Cardiff on 8<sup>th<\/sup> September with around 25 representatives attending. This included colleagues from Transport for Wales, GCRE and Keolis, as well as Expert Advisers and members of the Mass Transit Taskforce team.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Coulthard, UKTram Board Member and Head of Light Rail for Network Rail, was one of those who attended. He said: \u201cThe Cardiff roundtable was a really positive session, with good engagement from across the organisations represented and plenty of opportunity to contribute to the discussion. There was a strong focus on policy development, strategic fit and public and stakeholder consultation, followed by a site visit to the Cardiff Crossrail project.
